Tyvek Sleeping Bag Cover

or Ground Sheet. For those of you who can’t sew but don’t mind spending US$16.99, Flame’s Creed has this little beauty. It should keep your sleeping bag clean and dry (and only weighs 130 grams apparently). I bought a couple of their ultralight tents and found them to be very good value and quality. You really don’t need to break the bank to have some very good gear.

I know I have threatened to make my own and have come up with a few different designs – one of which, a sub 100 grams bathtub I actually used for a few years), but one of these cheap Chinese ones should see you well for quite some time until I do actually finalise the design for a bathtub floor/chair/lounger etc. Looks cosy doesn’t it? This would work very well with a poncho bivy shelter pitched like this. One of Sea to Summit’s ultra sil nano tarp ponchos which are 265 cm x 145 cm and weigh 230 grams (A$79.90 July 2019) would go very well with this. It is all the shelter you need. Some other suggestion s for bivies to go with ponchos: https://www.theultralighthiker.com/2019/05/30/ultralight-bivy-bag/

  1. I just got one of these recently, to pair up with the small Flames Creed tarp for the first multi-day bikepack.

It’s very big, and will easily fit my pad and sleeping bag.

One thing to mention is that it’s NOT seam sealed. So if you get one you’ll probably want to tape or seal it. Online people talk about PVA, but I’ve got some Tyvek tape on order. It’s expensive, but it’ll add extra strength to the sewed seams which is where Tyvek often fails. Plus I’ll throw in some extra for repairs of the bivy/tarp/anything else!
