At last from Henry Shires a pyramid tent which you can have open when it rains but the inside doesn’t get wet – and also an acceptable weight at 496 grams including stakes – for the single model.
It looks a little like my Deer Hunter’s Tent. Parallel evolution is fascinating. Like my tent it also doesn’t need a guy line at the front, so you could have a fire in that spot if you wanted to. Risking a fire with such an expensive and meltable fabric as Dyneema would be an option only for the well- heeled I suspect which is why I generally prefer my DIY Tyvek efforts none of which has ever let me down anyway.
Nonetheless I think the Aeon Li would be an excellent ultralight summer tent for folks in a hurry. Price is yet to be announced but likely to be much more than a roll of Tyvek.
