The Nano Chair

I first made a prototype of this chair half way through 2017, but it has waited on some fancy fasteners to come to fruition. This is #1 (of two) of my Nano Chair, a hiking chair which weighs less than 2 ounces approx 50 grams. No-one needs be without a comfy seat in the wilderness ever again. I have made it in three colours so you can remember how it goes together: Red = Rear. This is the bit nearest your bum which wraps around the inflatable mat; Black = Back, the two bits which hold the back (the rolled up mat together; and Yellow = Y, the piece which keeps the back of the chair from falling over.

If you are good with knots I suspect you could do this with a length of soft rope.

Another planned version  has some other pieces attached to the Back straps which allow the mat to be folded in two with carbon fibre tubes (or pieces of branch) to act as stiffeners and props at the back.

You can take the straps apart so you have four separate straps which you can use for something else. For example I used them off my prototype way back here to attach a pack raft to my pack.

We used the chairs on our trip up Mt Bartle Frere (and elsewhere) when we wanted to save the extra 100 grams of our trusty Cyclone chairs, and they worked fine.
