I received my new Topo Hydraventure 2 shoes from Injinji about a month ago. The new model is even better than the old one.
Look at that tread.
310 grams in US size 9.5
The comparison shoe for me is Keen’s Targhee 2 which weighs 436.6 grams according to their website. I have used these Keen shoes for years and really love them. They are a much more rugged shoe and will no doubt protect your feet better, but that 126.6 grams every time you lift your feet will also make you more tired, something to consider when you are my age.
These new Topos (if anything) have an even better grip than the Keens. It is extremely wet and slippery around here at the moment. I have been wearing mine on our afternoon walks (& etc) for around a month, so I have several hundred kilometres on them by now. I have pretty much not slipped once. They are pretty good. They are also wonderfully light and comfy.
As you will see in the comments section of my previous post about Topo shoes Scott has been using his for hunting for some time and absolutely swears by them. Now that I am no longer hound hunting and perforce because of my age & etc going much more slowly than I once did I think they will now do me too for this purpose. After the sheep have finished lambing I will head up the bush for a well-deserved break for a few days where I can give them a really good try-out.

PS: ‘Muzza’ has commented that Topos’s Ultraventure may be even superior to these. At under 300 grams in US Size 9 I suspect he may be right: https://www.topoathletic.com/mens-ultraventure?color=28 Mind you the Runventure https://www.topoathletic.com/mens-runventure-3?color=60 (270 grams in US Size 9) won Best trail Shoes 2020 in Triathlete Magazine.
