For trekking or tent poles repairs mostly when hiking – could be invaluable for repairing a broken gun stock in the field, an axe or machete handle perhaps. No doubt others will find countless other uses. I imagine it will have quite a few uses around the house/farm too. It even withstands heat up to 300C! I think a small quantity in a snap lock bag might be a life saver if you break a tent pole on a multi-day hike where there are no trees. Probably not somewhere I would particularly want to go, but the steppes of Mongolia could be really something! Tenacious tape or cuben fibre tape are also really handy for fixing holes in tents, rain coats etc. I always carry a needle and thread and a piece of silnylon. These can and have been used for repairs on those items as well as trousers, dogs, people, etc. For thread I always used to carry some dental floss, but nowadays I always carry a dyneema fishing line, so I just use some of that.

  1. Hmm, now that is rather interesting.

Not a lot of applicational usages for hiking… trekking poles and maybe people that have an external frame backpack (zpacks?). But not sure it would be all that viable for situations where we use duct tape to fix things like holes in shoes or repair a small puncture/rip in a shelter wall.

Still though, for those two (or such) applications, could be viable to have around, eh!
